Carmelite Monastery of Roxbury

We are happy to be working again with the sisters at the Carmelite Monastery of Roxbury. Our previous collaboration produced a beautiful new choir, a prayer room, and updated work rooms. This time around we are working to create a small area within the monastery for aging-in-place, enabling sisters to remain in their home throughout life. It will include sleeping areas, infirmary, and space for caretakers.

Additionally BLOOM is expanding accessibility so that infirm sisters can enjoy a wider footprint within the monastery and participate in more activities, among them a prayer room, the main library where tv / movies are sometimes screened, and the upper balcony overlooking the internal gardens. Doors are being widened, a vertical platform lift will be added between the two floor levels on the second floor, bathrooms expanded, and floor replaced to be more wheelchair conducive.
