Construction is soon to begin on this Dorchester Project! Phase 1 will be interior renovations to the primary home, most recently used by the Salvation Army, but previously achieving fame as the "New Kids on the Block house," it being the childhood home of Donny and Jonathan Knight.
Our design restores the extant features of the house, while opening and modernizing the more recent rear addition to become the family's primary social space.
The original 1880 house was designed by the architect George Meacham (who famously designed the Boston Public garden in 1860), in the assymetrical Stick Style, for J.W. Field (namesake of Field's Corner in Dorchester).
Phase II will rescue the collapsing carriage house, and restore / reconstruct the exterior envelope to its original form, while adapting the interior to contemporary living space.
